• Senior Ruby on Rails developer (permanent staff)

  Job Summary:
  The Senior Ruby on Rails developer will be responsible for development of a Rails application at reallyenglish. The position is a mix of new development and addressing customer issues in an iterative release model.

  Essential features of the successful applicant:
  - Extensive experience with Ruby on Rails
  - Knowledge of OO design patterns, refactoring and unit testing
  - Familiarity with working in a *NIX environment
  - A good working knowledge of RDBMS
  - A willingness to try new technology
  - A respect for international culture
  - Fluent in English and/or Japanese
  

  Experience in these areas advantageous:
  - Haml, Sass, Rspec, jQuery, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Git, Varnish, FreeBSD, OpenBSD
  - Automation and configuration management frameworks (e.g. puppet / chef etc)
  - High traffic consumer facing site
  - Improvement of the user experience
  - Open source contributor
