When Oğulcan Aydoğan contacted our partner school Hilal Dogu Akademi, looking for language training he presented a particular challenge. He had an offer letter for a master’s programme with a requirement for English language proficiency to the level of IELTS 6.5. The problem was his level was only 4.0. That is a full 3.5 bands lower than the requirement of his offer.

What is it with digital learning and learner engagement? 🤷‍♀️

When we design our courses our starting point is to put the learner at the centre of the process.

The smartphone is now by far the most popular place for learners to access their courses. Learners do this through our App – Learn English Now. There are two fundamental shifts that explain this. First, demographics are changing. There is a shift from the majority of users being digital migrants to digital natives. Second is smartphone accessibility. There is a remarkable statistic that 84% of the World’s population or 6.6 billion people own a smartphone. These two factors make our App the obvious choice for learners to access their courses. This means that it has got to be good! Let’s look at some of the benefits of the Learn English Now App.

Digital Learning is in a growth phase. The pandemic accelerated this due to lockdowns. Learners were unable to attend physical face to face classrooms. So, educational institutions looked for solutions that allowed them to deliver content online.

But now there is hope of a return to normality. So, what reasons do trainers and educators have for the continued use of digital learning? Especially if they are all back teaching and learning face to face?

One problem for digital English language courses is they do not save learner work. This is most true for those courses that cover productive skills of speaking and writing.
